The 2025-26 season began with Buffalo aiming to end its 14-year playoff drought. With a win Thursday Buffalo can clinch a playoff spot for the first time in 15 seasons and end the longest postseason absence in NHL history with a win in Ottawa.
Peyton Krebs scored with 3:01 remaining in the third period, and the Sabres beat the New York Islanders 4-3 on Tuesday night at KeyBank Center to reach 100 points in the standings.
“It feels good to see that 100 on there,” said Krebs, who scored a go-ahead goal in the third period for the first time in his NHL career. “It’s been a lot of work, obviously. Lot of ups and downs. We still got a long ways to go here but that feels good to hit that 100. I think it’s going to really give us some momentum here in the last few games and in the playoffs.”
